The Beast

Finally the fate of the beast sealed..:( it lost it's skulled in patch 4.0.3 .. it is a sad thing.
We knew this was coming. And yes, it is sad.

What New Pet Did You Tame?

i picked myself up a monkey, and an undead eagle/Diseased hawk from EPL
got me that brain silithid in thousand needles. everyone stops to look at em.
A seagull, named it Stoleurfries. I dont really use it though>.>
Got me a beetle tenacity pet for cata leveling, named em fluffy.

Incidentally converted hero farming as surv looks to be a brilliant way to level your pet, there is like 7 adds, ranged explosive trap 2 multi shots (talented for aoe) and your pet will go up half a bar, don't forget to MD to it first!!.
Chromaggus, a red beetle, Buru the Gorger (b/c the silithids in Un'Goro can't walk yet), and Ayamiss - and named it JustinBeiber. I swear the thing is so huge and brightly colored it'll be the most annoying thing ever in an instance.
I got:
green kitty
white fox
seagull
bug trio from AQ40 (blue)
brain exposed silithid
black warpstalker from sketties (the one you summon)

See armory for names (all Japanese names)

hubby got:
chromaggus
huhuran
bug trio (orange)
rare spawn fox
I heard the undead bird can fly after people on flying mounts can anyoe confirm this
Qirot (rare spawn wasp)
Skymane Bonobo
Black fox
White Phase Hound (from Kara)
Deranged Helboar
Picked up the color changing beetle to make my main tenacity pet and chromag. Looking at getting the brain silithid

Got the ghostly blue carrion bird. Hooray for making the coolest yet largest and most obnoxious pet see-through.
Blue Dragonhawk from Sunwell. <3!!!

I have a thing for them. What can I say...
Green kitty, color changing dog, white fox, seagull, and a monkey. Not to shabby.
I don't see how monkeys will get nerfed. Their 1 minute long cool-down will see to that. If anything, the blind effect will be reduced to 2 seconds, and cool-down to 40 seconds, like any other "stun/blind" pet.

Initially, I did not like the fox. But then I went out to hunt for a black one. It grew on me. I like their utility buff, and in AoE pulls, it will be very handy, and easier on tanks.

I do have the Green/Yellow parrot. It is a nice and bright pet, and I like how it's colors are so obvious and pretty.

Other than fox, I also got the new Magenta Serpent. It hisses when anyone clicks on it, which I find neat, and it looks absolutely magnificent. Being a Cunning pet, I love it, and the fox and the snake are the only two new pets that I bothered to keep.
I started to wish those big unearthed artifacts (or w/e they were) in Tanaris would be tamable as Wind Serpents.
The monkey is the greatest. That 4 second stun is freaken awesome, you can totally take out healers now.
Got the golden eagle in Loch Modan. Got the green spirit owl from stonetalon mountian on another alt.

New Quest Gear

I noticed today as I was questing that most of the rare quality quest gear that is mail is made for shaman. When I pointed it out to a friend of mine he told me that most of it is for hunters. Has anyone else noticed a shift towards shaman gear? Or hunter gear perhaps?
You're just questing in the wrong places.

BM Hunter Questions.

Alright, just have some quick questions I was hoping could be answered.

Kill Command

-Right now it seems like arcane shot > kill command. They do similar damage, but arcane shot costs 15 less focus and also procs a talent that makes pet crit.

-Will the above change as I level, or should I just be using Arcane Shot?

DPS:

-At 85, is BM DPS good relative to other hunter specs (I know Survival is beast)?

-Which pet is best for DPS? Does any Ferocity pet work or are there certain types (such as cats) that outshine the others?

Spirit Beasts:

-Is the Spirit Beast heal good?

-Are all spirit beasts ferocity (Ive seen a bear)?

PVP:

-Do you guys use Kill Command a lot in PvP, or just use arcane shot?

-Whats the best pet for PvP? Spirit Beasts look nice because of the heal, but I know that certain pets such as spiders have a snare, and birds have a disarm.

Thanks for your time.
The cost goes down 3 with the glyph, but the damage of kill comm does go up, it is critting an ave of 15k for me, and getting as high as 25k when killing streak procs while under bw when boss is > 35% (i use a slithid normally). Arcane crits for around 10k.

Nope, surv is a good 4 or 5k above bm and mm.

They are all good, bring the pet with the buff you need, thus why you get to call up to 5 pets.

I use kill comm when ever i can. and slithids make damn good pvp pets. web plus 585 stam.

Search for hunter addon

Hi,

I was just wondering if there are any addon that can show the duration of say, serpent sting or freezing trap without clicking on the mob. In dungeons I often trap a mob and then go assist the tank. It would be useful to know when the freezing trap breaks while not clicking the mob
I believe the only way to do this is by setting the target to your focus. This of course means you can't use a macro to cast misdirection on your focus, though you can edit it with your tanks name.

This macro will cast freezing trap and focus the target your mouse is over:
/cast freezing trap
/focus [@mouseover]

You can then use NeedToKnow to track the duration of the trap on your focus.

i just installed this yesterday.

Dranei hit bonus and pets

It seems the Dranei racial 1% hit buff is not applying to pets. Is this by design or a bug?

If it is by design, it really doesn't make sense to be a dranei if you play hunter as you'd need to stack the extra hit for pet maxing anyway...
I'm still not sure why they removed it from a party aura. Makes me sad.
I'm assuming that is the case. I don't mind it not being raid-wide, but it should be on the pet.

Am thinking about changing to worgen, but trying to be a little patient to see fi the issue gets resolved.

Hunter Advice

Hey everyone, so, recently i made a Goblin Hunter, and not gonna lie, i rarely ever use mana/focus users, im normally always a rogue, DK, or warrior, so, can anyone tell me what the best hunter spec for well, just absolute ownage, both PVP and PVE wise would be?
For PVE best raiding spec is SV.
I'm not sure what the best PVP spec.
There is none Atm that offer Ownage as you say. However, the most usable spec for PvE currently is SV spec. If you have any desire to PvP, don't. If you must pvp on a hunter ( not recommended currently) you can use BM with a Spirit Beast of your choice. ( choose a crab at 85) Other than that, just roll any other ranged class and be happy.
ya i just rolled a hunter too for cata, cive been wondering if it would be worth it to lvl him to pvp or if i sould roll a lock like everyone else says to do. Are hunters really that bad right now? And you think they;ll be getting any better?

Having played a hunter for over 5 years now. My best guess would be in about a year or a little longer, we'll get a few buffs and they (blizzard) will balance things out. However, at this moment my advice is avoid the class unless you just adore kiting and love to bust your fingers harder than any other class for around the same results. The Hunter Class is a serious player skill class now. If you want a challenge, and I mean a real brain twisting, pain in the butt to play perfectly challenge. This is the class to play right now.
hmmmm well any sugestions, i played a mage and hated it( boring) and i love range and mobilty? and.... pvp
Warlock/Spriest/Boomkin <---- In that order if you hate mages. Warlocks are most akin to hunters, thus I'd advise starting there.
thanks :P

Survival

Cobra Shot versus Steady Shot? -- Settled, Cobra shot.

Explosive Trap Launching versus Black Arrow?
Cobra deals nature damage, which means it scales by your Mastery. And the fact you wont have to reapply your SS over and over now, you can always have enough focus for Explosive.
I will use black arrow if I only have one or two targets but if its any more i use explosive trap

Auto Shooting Bugged?

I haven't played my hunter in a long while, but I seem to remember checking off the 'stop auto attack' option also applied to autoshooting when you switch targets.....and it doen't seem to anymore. Is it a bug? Or is there another option I just can't find to turn it off?
There was another interface option that was removed recently. Stop auto attack doesn't fix the issue.

I've actually been in the process of looting a mob I just killed when my auto-shot goes off on the next closest mob. Now during questing this isn't an issue, but if this happens in an instance it is not pretty.

Someone has posted about this issue in the bug forums.

You can macro all your shots with stop attack, or spam killing shot whe they are low, or just hit the spacebar to jump as they die. Yes it can indeed make you unpopular in a dungeon.

Help choosing hunter weapons

As a survival hunter should I:
dual weild Lightning Whelk Axe and Throat Slasher

or should I use Torth-Slayer's Staff?

thanks in advance for any help
Either setup will work, I have a 2nd heroic polearm with weapon chain, and macro to swap to it when needed.
PvE or PvP?

In my opinion:

PvE - staff
PvP - DW with weapon chain on off hand
Oh yeh it was mainly PvP sorry I don't like PvP on the hunter much and thanks for the help.

A PvP newbie needs help.

Hello hunters. I have recently started PvPing with this hunter (despite being up against other skilled players while using a "underpowered" class) and ive been somewhat enjoying it. Ive never really gotten into PvP as much as now so this is a new world for me.

So far i am able to somewhat compete against most classes (warriors and feral druids being a pain in the...yeah) but i know myself that im not playing a hunter class to its maximum potential and i was wondering if maybe you can share some PvP tips with me.

Warriors. Annoying. I try my best to kite them around but they always stunlock me and rofl in my face while i sit there bashing the deterrence button hoping to survive. But all that does is delay my death. If i use disengage, BOOM. Intercept and we're back to the beggining. Is there anything i can do to increase my chance of survival and maybe, if god is watching over me, kill one? They also have a insane amount of self heals to go with their outstanding burst. Not kewl.

I also feel that Hunters are still underpowered in tems of PvP when it comes to damage. Im MM spec and my chimera shots hit for an average of 6-7k and a 16k crit if im lucky. Serpent sting does a fair amount of damage and the piercing shots dot is quite nice to have. But whats that gonna do to a plate wearing 120k hp beast? Nothing. There. And with the current state hunters are in now, focus just isnt recovering fast enough to sustain enough damage before they eventually close the gap and demolish me. Unless of course you have every button on your keyboard keybined to Cobra/Steady shot. Then focus is not a problem for you.

Right now you're probably to the point to where you thinking:
"z0mg if u lyk melee class den roll one st0p crying n00bzz."

Yes, i could do that. But i dont want to. If rather get to learn my class, be good at it, than play a class everyone now uses because it is OP in the battlegrounds. I'm always going to be a hunter. No matter what.

TL;DR

I'm struggling to kill melee classes (besides rogues) and i need some advice on how to do so. If possible, any type of PvP tip would very much be appreciated. I'm new to the PvP world.
Beating a decent warrior as MM isn't too difficult. They do have alot of gap closers but it's easy to counter them all.

First of all you can start the fight off in camo so they can't charge you, a really good warrior will shout in a range to get you out of stealth and still charge you but the majority are too stupid and will most likely just walk up to where you are, by then he should be rooted assuming you have entrapment, get a serpent sting and chimera shot off + few steady shots, as soon as he's root is about to run out, use your monkeys bad manner ability and stun him, and regain a bit more focus, throw in a kill command or arcane shot.

After he gets out of entrapment and monkey stun he will use one of his many gap closers, you will have to eat this one so pop roar of sac, he will do virtually no damage to you if you have high resilience, then disengage. As soon as you disengage he will close the gap again, but you're traps will be up. Use all you're traps including immolation and snake, and pop master's call if he got a hamstring off, and he will be entrapped again. Remember to use Chimera everytime it's up for the 5% heal.

Always save trinket for their knockdown stun, and use deterence to counter the stun from charges/intercepts. When you're in range and you know they are going to charge or intercept you any second, just pop deterence, he will charge straight into you without stunning you and then you can just wingclip and safely walk away.

Killing a warrior is all about sustained damaged while keeping him rooted or stunned.
I'd like to add here that master's call is key. Glyph it for 8 seconds of intense warrior tears. You should always have entrapment in pvp. Immolation trap is literally *free* damage, so there's no reason not to use it. If you can get him rooted for a few seconds, run away, drop another rooting trap on the way, and then pop some cooldowns to do some major damage.

If the warrior is arms, I honestly like to wait until they do their 4 second stun to use my the monkey stun. If i can use it instead to help kite, though, I will take advantage of that. Just remember to always have a trap down before you hit Master's Call. You don't want him running after you!

Edit!!!!
Also pretty sure warriors don't have an Anti-dispell talent anywhere in their talents. We can dispel enrages. They need enrages to heal and do more damage. There's your easy math problem for the day ;)
If you dont have ur trinket up or roar of sac, then using monkey stun while they use their 4 second stun is probably the best thing to do but most likely you will be saving ur trinket for the stun anyway.

Also Master's call glyph is AMAZING against DK's too, they don't expect your masters call to be up for 2 icy chains.

Snake Trap - clunky and inefective!

Any one else feel that snake trap isnt very helpful. The snakes are easily killed with aoe and their dps is extremely weak.

Why not make a spike trap that is covered in poison? It would certainly look awesome and not be so easily avoided by like an aoe.
Snakes are somewhat useful in PvE. They count as extra "players", so they're useful for when damage is split.

Pets/Minions shouldn't trigger ice trap

Seeings as our current state in PvP is laughable, when a dk's minion or a hunter's pet takes my trap it just feels like a slap in the face from blizzard.

Edit: whoops meant to say freezing trap!

Thoughts?
Terrible idea. What if it's another Hunter who has their pet coming for you? Or next to them? I personally will run with a Seagull for the disarm for those days I want to go hunting other Hunters. Also, they can't RoS if the pet is in a trap. They can't do anything other than BW out of it really. Trapping another Hunters pet has and always will be a strategy to beating them. I suggest you next time scatter shot the pet or conc shot the pet and kite the DK a bit more before you drop your trap if you want to make 100% sure that the DK is the one who eats it.
no dk ghoul = no gnaw bite

no enemy hunter pet = upper hand for you ( on bm hunters beastral wrath waste)

demonlogy lock = force a cd pop or no extra felguard dmg

Human Hunter

Who else is rolling a Human?

I was going to go Worgen but blarg they don't look that great as a Hunter D:
Human, in a fantasy game!?
Human, in a fantasy game!?

This is madness!
It's about time humans got the hunter class. Silly it took this long.

They retconed the lore to make it happen.

Why the lore didn't allow humans be hunters...is beyond me.
The same reasons Taurens can't be Rogues.

NONE!
They're so sneaky you'd never be able to find one?
The female /laugh emote scared off all the animals, as did the dance. Even animals know pain...
Yeah because a giant cow sneaking around like a ninja is TOTALLY believable....

The same reasons Taurens can't be Rogues.

NONE!

I've seen tauren rogues in cherry trees, they painted there hoof's red!
already got my race change pending, here i come human hunter
I've seen tauren rogues in cherry trees, they painted there hoof's red!

See? They're terrible! You can see them hiding in the trees. Real Rogues would never be seen.
I play a human hunter every time I run heroic CoS...he's bald, stiff, and his feighn death is weak...I wind up clicking the gnome disguise on and teehee through that slogfest.

Humans...pshaw!
I will be makiing a redneck and getting one of the new Dog pets

How are your specs looking?

Currently I'm level 82, leveling as survival. Unsure weather to subspec BM or Marks - the only good thing i could see for investing 10 talents in one tree would be Fervor. Thoughts?
<-- is my leveling spec so far. Zero downtime when chain pulling mobs, its great.
Eh - SV is just fine for me. I just realized though that at least 3 points is pretty much required in marks for Efficiency, that just leaves me with no idea how to subspec because all the other talents I would spend points on in marks suck.

Wild Quiver questions

Can somebody just explain a few things to me about wild quiver?

If I shoot Chimera shot or Arcane shot and it procs does it fire an additional one of those for similar damage? Or does it fire a regular shot for base damage?

If I crit with my initial shot will the wild quiver shot crit also or is that random?

I don't know, if anybody can give me a rundown on how it works, it would be very helpful. Thanks
Its a regular shot regardless of what it proced off of.

PVP and pets

i know there or more of u out their that would rather use a different pet then a crab spider or monkey. so why doesnt blizzard make something where we can tame whatever pet thats tamable now and we get to kinda customize it.for ex my cat could now also have have pin so i dont have to be stuck with a crab.just seeing what ur thoughts on it were.
Yea but it would ruin the point of spending time, to go out and catch certain pets for your pvp needs. But its still a good idea
Yeah uve got a point just hate that theirs only 3 pets to pick one for pvp wish i could have a few more opions
There were rumours circulating for the longest time that we would be able to do just that in Cataclysm, whatever happened to that? IMO that would've been the best solution to the "forcing pets" problem.
Yeah i would love to see blizz do something like this u wouldnt have to make a pet op like a ferocity pet with all the stuns and stuff but put like pet talent trees in where theirs 3 trees that way we could spec them to our play style and we would have a wide variety of pets

Silencing Shot

It needs to be 40 yards not 35 yards.
/agree

Signed,
Your friends Multi-Shot, Tranq Shot, and Distracting Shot.
I think it also needs a shorter cooldown. 20 seconds is awfully long for an interrupt.
Yeah really, unless all other interrupts have a shorter range but I don't think that is the case.

New glyph of concussive shot in PvE?

So now in 4.0.6, Glyph of Concussive Shot is going to limit maximum run speed.

I understand this can be handy in PvP to deny some sprint abilities from players. But what about PvE? What kind of mob ability this new mechanics will affect? Can this, for instance, deny those boars to charge, or those nightbane worgens at Duskwood to leap at you from afar?
Ok. So basically this glyph will become completely useless for someone who does not PvP?

Maybe silly question, but...

Is it still possible to get a quiver to display on your character? I think it looks bloody silly to just be yoinking arrows out of nowhere. At the very least is there something cosmetic?
Agree, it's such a nice extra thing to have when you use a bow.

Cosmetic is a powerful thing...
I believe having a quiver in one of your bag slots works.

At least, my MC hunter quest quiver shows.
Yes it is still possible to have a quiver display on your back. They may turned quivers into bags but the bags themselves actually show up on your back as a quiver!

So just equip a quiver as a bag and provided you do not currently have a 2h equip it will show up on your back (you may need to relog).

Enjoy!

Belive the hyp?

hey all,
Looking to roll a hunter alt. I want to know how the class now stacks up DPS wise with a mage rogue and the plate that run DPS. From what i read here everyone is upset, but over the years i have also learnd to listen to the vets rather then the cry babies.

Thanks!
PVE hunters are fine. PVP is a different story, but since you are focusing on making the alt for PVE by all means roll a hunter.

We are sitting up there with DKs and locks right now as the top dps classes.
Thanks guys.

NEED HLPE BADLY PLEZ

HELP ME I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S THE BEST CLASS IS FOR LEVELLING AND SOLOING BECAUSE I SOLO ALOT PLEZ TILL ME I NEED HELP PICKING AND I NEED OT MAKE MONEY FAST PLEZ HLEP WITH ALL THIS :( PLEZ

just a thought...

how many of you would be open to the idea of a tree where you trade your pet in for a 10% damage increase and the ability to auto-shot while moving?
now with the change to focus, i was kinda hoping for a way to auto shoot on the move. I'd love for Fox to be able to shoot auto and lolaimed while running.

as for the pet, that worked in WAR online, but with masters call and key pet abilities like web, it's not worth the trade in.
aspect of the fox will let you auto shot on the move and quarts wil let you see your shot timer, and if we traded in our pets the only difference between us and a rogue is we would be ranged.
i know about studder step, i just wish there was a spec too which one would be able to be completely ranged.
I would if the trade off was worth it.

I like the ranged physical attack aspect, not so much the pet aspect. It's probably why I prefer marks. :p
What is studder step? Is that something like stutter step? :p
What is studder step? Is that something like stutter step? :p
I th-th-th-think he muh-muhmuh-meant whu-whu-what he s-s-s-s-su-s-s-said.
From what I hear and seen.. AOTF had the autoshot feature taken away from it unless they brought it back... As for the pet... I'd trade that thing in a heart beat. They are one of the causes as to why we can't be set. We have too many things and we are obviously gnna keep getting changed. Drop the pet... they are useless anyway

Yah you cannot autoshot and move a the same time even with fox.

It's funny how blizzard said that the Hunters had a broken system (mana) and that they had to fix it by giving us viper..

Now comes cata and they said focus was what would work yet they had to give us fox to fix the horrible flaws.

Same issues of blizzard failing at design and different flaws.

Why can't my pet tank at all

I'm leveling a hunter for the first time and I always heard bm is the best spec so I went BM, and I'm using a monkey pet from deadmines (which seems to be bugged and cant use spirit bond or mobility) and it can't hold aggro on me at all unless I pop intimidation and even then its only good for a few seconds of threat before I outdo it.

My gear is not good, I have no heirlooms, growl is on... what is going wrong ? Is it the pet? my spec? Or is this the norm ?

Also on an unrelated note is arcane shot or kill command better DPS?
A crab or something with a similar talent tree works fine. Mine was in BWL and could hold all the adds just fine while tanking the boss at the same time. Sadly i died due to explosions XD. But its health didn't degenerate so fast and when i used mend pet on it its health goes back to full in no time. Its going to take awhile to get the fullness out of ur tanking pet due to how many points u need for ur pet to truly be effective. Also thats a Cunning pet. U want a Tenacity pet for tanking mobs really especially higher lvls than u.
One thing you can do is slow down on the dps xD. If you get the threat, concussive to slow down the movement speed, go all out, and feign death. Or use Intimidation/Kill Command.

What you can simply do, is apply serpent sting, and just shoot away. (Don't spam focus.) Use that on Kill Command instead, and whenever you do, fire off an Arcane shot. Etc. Play around with it. But I had no problems with my ferocity pet holding aggro in my teens.
Bears are fantastic.
A monkey isn't going to produce the most threat.
Use this site and pick out a nice tenacity pet:
http://wow-petopia.com/

You could quest with a monkey just fine, but you should let your pet get in a hit or two before you shoot. This can make leveling a bit slower.
Once you get misdirection life will be much easier. Make sure you glyph for it.
reguardless hunter pets at that level wont hold complete agro. you need to be hitting kill command as often as possible
Get a bear.

Or a turtle.
I believe that if you spam Arcane Shot all the time, your pet will never be able to hold aggro anyway, even if you are a BM.

When I want my pet to hold aggro (such as against elites), I only spend my focus on Kill Command instead of Arcane Shot, and that works just fine (and I'm MM, so this can only get easier as BM).

Pretty much this arcane shot will draw them right to you if you use it to often or dont let your pet get a few hits in. Just send your pet in and us KC soon as it is in range and you should be fine.
Considering all the changes--and assuming you are like me and want to go balls to the wall at all times--a tenacity pet is your best option. Before 4.0 my ferocity pets never lost aggro. Now I have to hold back if I don't want to pull aggro. That's no fun I say! Get a bear or something of that nature and you will no longer have a problem.
Did you make sure to turn OFF Cower?
Did you make sure to turn OFF Cower?

Irrelevant.
Cower no longer causes threat dropping: It's been changed into a defensive cooldown, and has been that way for a while.
There are reports that the monkeys from Deadmines are bugged and don't auto-attack, so you're losing out on a ton of threat right there.
I run with all sorts of pets and never pull aggro off them. The key to them keeping aggro is using kill command - a BM hunter's MAIN SHOT, like Explosive and Chimera are for Surv and Marks - every time it's off cooldown.

Your threat problems will rapidly fade.
I have a problem with my Cunning pets tanking since 4.0.1. I used to be able to tank all but elites with Cunning before that. Now I have to use a Tenacity pet if I want it to take any threat off of me (though, it's a pretty sweet Warp Stalker, so that's a plus).

Cunning was always supposed to be middle-of-the-road. Not the best, but not the worst. Now, it doesn't seem like they have any ideal use outside of PvP, and even then it doesn't matter that much what you use.

Can we expect more new pet models?

I've been looking through Petopia, as I'm a pretty obsessive pet hunter. I noticed there weren't a ton of new pets coming in. The ones I've noticed are the dog, foxes, monkeys, shale spiders, and a couple new skins.

So, what I'm wondering is: Is this all there is going to be for Cataclysm? Or can I expect to see more tameable models in the new zones that aren't open yet?

spec for questing

I haven't played wow in like 5 months

what spec should i go for my 71 hunter to get up to mid 80 primarily questing?

thanks!
I would like to know as well, except i'm going to be re-rolling a worg. I havn't played in years but i shall tonight when i get home from work!~! *ohemgee so excited*
Marksmanship is definitely the best for questing. Rapid Killing + Rapid Recuperation combo is too good to pass up.
ohi see, thanks ! =)

A Cata inspired lament

Are there any hunters left that remember camping your pet for days due to the abilities that pet had? King B and his ability to chase down epic mounts for pvp. Brokentooth and her ridiculous attack speed of just 1.0 that could be made even lower. Researching pets for hours because one had great dps, but was as squishy as a clothy. As an ally, I remember griping about how the horde had control of some of the best pets. Brokentooth, Echayakee, and let's not forget the famous Humar. They were bragging rights, enabling you to boast your prowess as a hunter. Both that you survived the taming fight with the beast, but also that you went into enemy lands, frequently with your guild at your side. And the ever popular phrase, "Wait, don't kill it, I want to tame it!" lol

I still have reservations about how pets have changed. No more do hunters camp for days to get their specific pet, there just is no point. It makes it easier, yes, for hunters to get what they want. Ally can't gripe that Horde has their pet and visa versa, but at what cost? Now the skill is in how you train your pet, where you appoint your pets talents. Still, we will never get to see a Brokentooth lioness shred the poor clothies useless. We will never see a Hyena out tank the MT.

And we lost our AOE! (is still hitting my volley button)

Just a look back at where pets have come and gone. Since, you know, the world just got destroyed today. lol
Yup, I definitely remember those days. Heck, my first pet (and my main at that) I specifically got because the attack speed was the lowest I could get at the time. I agree that we lost a neat aspect to the game when they made those changes, but yet we still have that 'strategy' portion of adjusting skills/talents to what we need.

Now, if they could just combine the two....
I remember those days, and dear God am I glad they're gone.
Not a lament, but.. tamed the AV Wolf because it was the fastest pet in the game. It was able to run the entirety of the blackrock temple ring in 1 dash if i remember correctly.
That lion from Mulgore was fast as hell (runspeed, attack was 1.2 i think) I loved it. He moved much faster thank other pets of the time and faster than me in cheetah.

"The Rake" I think... been a while.
Takk the Leaper was my favorite back in the day. Also, remember the Black Wolf from Feralas that had the crazy Magic Resists back in the day. I think it was something like 250 per magic school type?

Also while it's nice to tame something new and have it auto-level up to within three levels, I did like that you just wouldn't see some pets at the higher lvls. Breaking out my lvl 70 armored boar from RFK or Humar always filled me with pride as I had worked hard to level them up simultaneously. Also, I guess I was one of the few that somewhat enjoyed taming new beasts to learn the upgraded skills.
You appreciated your pet more. Searching the countryside for a bear that knew swipe 2 or 3 so your main bear tank would learn it. Same goes with whatever your main 2 pets were. You searched the animal population of any new area you enter to see if they knew better abilities. Now when your 80 you take a low level animal, BAM it knows all level skills up to 77. Sure it's a time saver, buy you don't appreciate the work nearly as much.

Every one of my bears abilities pre lv70, were learned from other animals. That is why he has a very special place in my heart. And bliz FIX PAPA BEAR FROM ATTACKING RANDOM CRITTERS so I can use him again in my day to day life.

Yes I do miss it, but I don't. That would be alot of work learning 12 pets that currently occupy my stable.
Back when UBRS was difficult... Snarler, the black wolf that spawns near Mojache use to have near max on all resists. Back then it made him difficult to kill. Other than that, King B and the wolf with the turbo were the main ones I used.

I miss volley, but more for a have fun in down time aspect I really miss eyes of the beast.
It was fun, but it really wasn't a good system.

Yes, but we could kill stuff back then! *refers to glass cannon post* See, back then, we were LPs and held our own in dps. Now...*sniffles*
I was just wanted to be the first person on my old server to get a spirit beast(Loque'Nahak)
Camped it for a week or two was one of the first to have it :)
Yeah and I'm kinda glad it's gone. The AH was a dentist's nightmare of Brokenteeth. Granted, I loved Turbopuppy chasing some horribly overpowered warlock down and nomming him, but hey. Not everyone should *have* to use the same pet if they don't want to be horribly gimped, and with server populations as they are - it really shouldn't be a rare spawn (See also: All the tales of ganked rares by achievement hunters and regular taming hunters. I've been lucky so far to not have a tame taken from under me mid-tame, but maaaaan...).
Humar was horde only? Damn, my nelf hunter is a badass!
Along the same lines, I remember with fondness having my pet always out, even when I was mounted. Maybe if they had that now, we wouldn't summon them with 20% health.
I miss the variability in the stats from pet to pet. With the advent of normalization this aspect was removed making all of the pets rather bland, only their skin is different.

I don't miss having to level them from their trained level to your max or having to tame the right pets to learn advanced pet skills, that was a PITA.

Hunters wont be able to compete in pvp.

Against hybrids that do more damage and have healing spells they can cast on themselves in a pvp setting. Druids/shamans/priests/death knights/warriors outright own us if we are caught by ourselves and them as the opponents. Hunters need a decent self heal available to MM specc, SV specc, and BM specc, yes I know about spirit mend, not everyone has a spirit beast, and they're not exactly falling out of the sky.
MM spec has Chimera shot which heals for 5% of the damage it does. Not a great deal I guess but it's something.
SV is the one that really misses out. In PvP I know that there is a good chance I will die as soon as I get dots on me (during combat). I try to make sure I kill them before I die so I can get out of combat and eat. Sometimes works, usually fails lol
At this point I'm going to raid with my hunter in Cata, but for PvP I'm probably just going to play my mage. I suspect they're just afraid of making hunters OP for the rated BGs since hunters have notoriously been good in BGs, but as things stand right now, with even gear and skill, the person playing the hunter is going to lose against the majority of classes they go up against.

As mentioned in another topic the fact that we can't cleanse any DoTs is a major shortfall of the hunter class. I also think it's highly ironic that we have a whole talent tree called "Survival" but no way to prevent or cure poisons.

With lackluster aimed shot damage, and minimal self heals, we have neither a strong offense nor defense, so I am afraid that PvP as a hunter is going to be somewhat frustrating until they give us some more buffs.
I'm just going to wait and see how things are at 85.

Even if it's harder to compete, I will still try.

And also level a cute little gnome rogue with pink hair just for fun :)

And this is how I feel, we have the worst defense, and everyone has much much higher burst potential than we do, not to mention our mortal strike is the worst of all the dps classes. I'm going to play my hunter, but sucks how we are the punching bag for Cataclysm.
I'll keep chuggin. Both PvP and PvE... partially because I'm a masochist... I mean... I live in Germany and I'm willing to wake up at 1 in the morning to raid or do scheduled premades. >>

Still, once the devs see how poorly we're represented (even worse than ever before, probably) they'll give us some much-needed buffs.

I <3 my MM and I'll never give up on it. :D
Am I the only Hunter not finding a problem in PvP?
I was expecting you to say : hunters won't be able to compete in pvp cuz of Terribad players like me. I'm havin no problem right now cuz I know how to adapt...

Alterac Valley is not PvP, friend.

Being able to top the HK charts and roll over PUGs in BGs with your guild team of mages and paladins doesn't mean anything either.

Actually, I do in pugs, my guild doesn't PvP at all, I just know how to adapt and play the game. If you know what you are doing you can PvP, this game is not hard at all it's just unfair and we drew the smallest straw when it comes to 4.0.1 PvP, but that doesn't mean we cannot compete, it just means you have to sit down and learn how to play again and not expect to pop all your cool downs and kill something instantly.

Funny you said that, because all other classes are popping their cooldowns and killing things instantly.
Honestly, i'm fine with having low self-healing, as long our DPS output and CC capabilitys would justify ourlack of survivabillity, similar to rogues for example. At the moment, its just not the case, we have neither.

Also hybrids healing really need to be toned down, a shadow priest or an ele shaman that can top himself in 2-3 heals is retarded, either that or they really need to increase the mana cost of healing spells of non-healing specs.

Currently Ele Shamans, Boomkins and Spriests are one-man-armys.

Pretty much, and hunters have none of that strong personal utility to speak of.
I believe that aspect of the fox will help a ton but it doesn't change the fact that any class with a heal can out heal my dps.
Everything is just broken right now, hybrids won't be able to do the same amount of healing right now as they do in cata. Sub rogues with recuperate are pretty OP, but everything else will be manageable. If a hybrid tries to outheal your dps in cata, they'll run OOM pretty quickly.

Ey Blizz, I gots a problem here!

Ey Blizzard I'm trying to eke out a living here in Azshara by doing my rounds for the good ol trade prince. And as you may know good help is hard to find but come on here. My own minion does not want to do what I'm telling it! MY minion! As in I own it!

So here I am tasked with gathering military supplies, to cut costs for making new supplies. I mean come on 3 silver for a sword? No thank you I will fight with a good ol trusty stick. Anyway they want to salvage some old equipment so they to send me into a mine field!?!? I mean the pay is good and all but Gallywix aint giving me no medical. So being the genius I am I realize that I should just detonate the mines first! Brilliant huh, don't even think about using my idea ive already taken it to the goblin patent offices!

But anyway the dang thing refuses to do what I want! I tell it to go to the end of the mine field and guess what! Wouldn't you know it that the darn thing crawls up into a whimpering ball after hitting one lousy mine! I mean maybe after 37 or 38 mines, but only after hitting one? I mean come on! What does it think I am feeding it occasionally for eh?

Anyways if you could all do this hard working goblin a favor and rattle my minions brain around a bit. That way its completely submissive and goes where I tell it without stopping just because it blew off one of its arms that would be fantastic! I might even cut you 1% of the profits from this idear of mine! Anyway if you could get back to me soon, yea know time being money and all, that would be great.

~Sincerely yours, Warfield Drizzlecog

ps: You are paying postage! E-Msgs aint cheap you know? Jeez I remember this one time when I my friend Paulie a letter asking for *Constant Rambling goes on for 3 posts*

<fun aside and all please change it so if I use the "Move To" command my pet does not stop the moment it gets knocked around by a mine or something. Or at least add an option for that. Thanks in advance>
Well, you got into character pretty well, I'd say...
Thanks XD I hope if anything people get a chuckle through the method of my question. I thought it would be more fun then the usual monotone "Blizzard please make "X" do "Y" instead" I am sure I'm going to get flamed for the RP but oh well XD

Thermios or Arena Weapon?

Hello Hunter Forum,

Recently I got enough points to get the Vicious Gladiator's Longbow. According to femaledwarf.com , it's better then Thermios. Is this true ? Or should I just save my points ?
Thanks
I used the Glad Longbow until I got the Dragonheart Piercer
Must resist urge to poke fun at typo-ing the name of a bow into an insulated container for liquid.

Aimed Shot change suggestion

Well this has been brought up a hundred billion times, however, I have not seen this idea for a better, more desirable Aimed Shot.

Just like the talent Subtelty rogues have, Find Weakness, a 2 point talent that gives their ambush, garrote and cheapshot a 100% chance to reveal a flaw in their opponents armor, making their damage bypass 50% of their armor, I thought it would be a pretty good idea for a talent for Marksman hunters. It would proc off our Aimed shot (obviously), and it would be a ladder talent from Master Marksman (Free Aimed shot talent).

A 50% armor pen talent would be exactly what Marksman hunters need. Seeing how right now on beta, that using Cobra Shot in Marksman yields more dps , which means you would be ignoring the Master Markmans talent all together. Giving this talent to marksman would increase our physical damage without actually buffing our shots. It would mean that Aimed shot would be an ideal opener in PvP (can you cast Aimed Shot while still in Camoflage?), give more use to our mastery talent without buffing its damage and make it so buffing Chimera Shot wouldnt be the only solution to increasing our damage output.

As far as the talent would go, it obviously shouldn't have a 100% uptime, but more like a 50% uptime (if the talent were to be copied right out of the Subtelty, 50% armor bypass for 10 seconds). Thats all the input I pretty much have regarding the talent all together, so any further input would be nice.
I would prefer a buff to the damage of aimed shot to be 2 or 3 (preferably 3) times what it is now.

The original aimed shot (casted) used to be great. If you had someone under 50% hp stuck in an ice trap they would die for sure.
Well I not going to disagree with you on the fact that it needs to be buffed, but if it were to be buffed to that extent, hunters would replace rogues as the hardest hitting thing that you didnt see coming. Plus I am pretty sure blizzard wants us to press more than a couple buttons to win any fight (I have about 4 bars full of macros and keybinds, almost twice as much as any other character).
I agree I think aimed shot should be more like the original...perhaps less of a casting time.

I'm not saying it needs to be as powerful as it was in Vanilla, but as it is right now you will never use Aimed in PvP. In PvE it will ONLY be used when you get the 5 stack of MMM (i.e. raiding). I wouldn't even use it as an opener while levelling because it's damage output isn't much greater than Arcane Shot but you lose up to 3 seconds of time casting it.

Its a "signature shot" of the spec, but is hardly ever used.

It needs something to make it worth using. We are hunters and aimed shot should be one of the most hard hitting shots we have.

1 or 2-Handed Cata weapons?

I've always liked duel wielding weapons, but before Cata had been using a 2h Quel'Delar sword. It was the best weapon I could find, and was lucky to get it.

Now that Cata is out, is duel wielding viable over a 2h weapon? Not do I enjoy the look of 2 swords by my sides and in my hands, I also loved the fact I could see my quiver. With a 2h on my back I can't see the quiver when using a bow, and it always looked like my character had to rub my sword for good luck before shooting every arrow.

So, with that being said, can 2 enchanted 1h weapons compete with an enchanted 2h weapon now?

What is better: (N) Key or Elementium Dragon

I know Agi is the top stats for Hunters, but I'm not sure which of these two is better. I'm leaning towards Key since ED has a very short effective uptime (1min every 5). Maintaining Hit Cap won't be a problem for me because I'm about to grab Gloves of Passing Night as soon as I find the vendor lol..

Faction change help?

So I've decided to jump servers to join RL friends cause lets face it for me it makes it alot more fun when you know who you are playing with. Now the problem is they play alliance and I havent played alliance sence WoW launched. So the question is what races stand out as the best for raiding and for pvp on the alliance side? Im thinking night elf or worgen? Any helpful input would be great! If this is covered in some other thread I appologize but i couldnt find one ;)
Dwarfs arent even on the same ballgame as the other ally races. Dwarf hunters can shoot a rifle with a beer in one hand, a dwarf chick in the other, and and a bazooka in the beard...
lol love your reply mogrekk but i was looking for something a little more fact based and a little less chuck norris lol
Worgen is best for raiding, as it has the 1% crit racial which is around 100 more DPS than Nelves.

I'd say Human is best for PvP, as it has the trinket racial, and since the new PvP trinkets have resilience on them aswell as the on use effect (1500 agility), you don't sacrifice any defense.

To be honest, unless you are a min-maxer, it doesn't matter what race you are. But if you are, those are the facts.

What should i choose next?

Okay so ive been playing the game for some time now, and the class i rolled 5 years ago just isn't the same.

Hunter PVE - Fine, 13-14k in Heroics and 17-18k constant in Raids.

Hunter PVP - Okay so in your eyes Blizzard, is HM, SS, BA, ES, ->trap/concuss -> ES, CS, + another 3-4 times through that rotation fine (with a 20k-per-hit-dk) on your ass?

-> How is it that a Spriest can fear me, so that i throw away .. TWO sheathed daggers, and a Rifle? then proceed to run around in circles for a bit, whilst the whole time he just DOTDOTDOTDOTDOT dead. OR ... wait i just wont start on DK's, warriors and the state of Frost Mage pvp.

-> Inb4 the trolls, (Rocket Jump, Nitro boosts, Disengage, Parachute Cloak) i can get away from targets and i know how to jumpshoot and kite, however unless i roll with several others or sit in a Demo's seat, i last roughly 30seconds on the battlefield.

-> In addition, the fact that most "skilled" players these days simply understand the SIMPLEST mechanics of their class and by basically just running into our melee range. "dont joke blizz, its still a "deadzone"." can easily take us down.

So in the end, although i dont particually dislike focus, ive adapted and thats all well and good, please bring back mana. The fact remains that at least with mana i could burst someone to somewhere near 50% hp without every-single-goddam CD that is possibly available to hunters.

And dont tell me to just pvp as BM, i have a spirit beast and as the state of KC and pet pathing is atm i just dont think that watching my pet run after the target for 30seconds even though its 2 meters in front of me is acceptable. - as Surv, 10k with cobras, 6-7 per tick with ES and 9-11 with Arcane and you can sit and watch a Ret paly heal through your damage. and then proceed to bring you down to half HP whilst you frantically attempt to kite them around, avoiding every other OP class in the bg so that you may somehow survive a bit longer.

Its ok for warriors and DKs to beat us by 30%

damage in wrath for the better part of 2 years with SM and other 277/284 weapons but as soon as hunters take a ~15-20% lead over others we take the nerf bat.. Makes sense right?
Since right what?
.
yup, dk be me , i only was in front of a few last week, but most are still 1-2.5k over me.. easy..
It's funny to see how every expansion is the same over and over... some classes are always in top dmg in pve or top teams in arena... but as soon as hunter are finally doing something good.... let's put them down... like I've said on another post, blizz should remove the class if they don't want us to play it...

why nerf survival's agility?!?

I'm a survival hunter and I was just wondering what numbers people have seen from hunter's so far in cata.

Are we really doing too much damage?

I do like that they are increasing kill shot AP bonus because that shot has not scaled very well, but why take away 5% of my agility?

In raids, yes most hunters will top the charts, but we got mages who are usually in a close 2nd.

So if we are doing too much damage then so are mages.

Mages also need to be nerfed in PVP because the amount of CC they have is ridiculous.

Some wow developer must have a girlfriend or wife with a mage, and she QQ's so much that he decides to make mages OP in everything.

That's my QQ for the day
you guys relly need to get laid more often

i really don't *@*#ing care about any change
i just play the game for fun

Best Exotic PVP pet

I'm finally able to tame exotic beasts, and im trying to get the best pet for DPS. Right now I have Nuramoc as my exotic pet and I know theres a better one.
For PvP? Try a silithid or spirit beast. The stam buff you get from silithids is nice, and they have a ranged root.
dont get a devilsaur kiddies kill them and go ooo i killed godzilla im so cool.

anyway get a silithid and spirit beats as partner core hound is good for the AV drek'thar raid encounter
Seagull. Why don't you have it now?! GET IT, IT'S DPS IS AMAZING AND JUNK!

WHY ARE STILL HERE!? TAME YOUR OWN SEAGULL TODAY!!!

Where is our big attack

Seems quite a few classes have a big nuke, what is ours?

We are a DPS class yeah? At 65 I am seeing some crits from 2.9k-5k+ (shaman lavaburst, ambush, pyro, exorcism etc) from other opponents.

What would our big attack be? Highest attack I have had is 1.8k on a aimed shot and im in 5/6 60 pvp gear and decent weapon.

Aimed shot is pretty fail.

Spec survival. Explosive shot is quite good :)
what are you doing during the cd, only reason i like MM is bc of the focus return on killing blows, survival isnt focus starved?

Could be at your level, I dunno. But explosive does big damage, which is what you were asking about.

You get Chimera shot around level 70 or something, so at that point you should be able to do some decent damage.
what are you doing during the cd, only reason i like MM is bc of the focus return on killing blows, survival isnt focus starved?

You're only supposed to be using AS during master marksman procs. Keep up SrS, the Imp SS buff, and focus dump with AS.

[Edit] None of the specs are "focus starved' if you're doing things right. I.E using SS inbetween your other shots. Only focus dumping when you can actually afford to, etc.

Pet attack sequence macro?

Hey, I'm looking for a macro from the old forums that when pressed would send my pet out to attack all of a shamans totems. He would kill them one by one until the totems were gone, at which point he would attack my target.

Does anybody happen to have this macro or can show me how to make one where the pet moves from one target to another?
Now that would be quite good to have.

I will be watching this space.
The macro no longer works. It stopped working seasons ago. It's basic format was:

/kill shaman
/kill fire totem
/kill frost totem
/kill scary totem

What the macro did was basically put the scariest totems at the bottom of the macro. So first the pet would go to the shaman, then least scary totem, all the way down. Press it once to get the scariest totem, a second time to get the next one, all the way to the shaman.

What hunters would then do with this macro is macro it into steady shot, arcane shot, or whatever. So, whenever they spammed their shot, the pet would look for something to kill if something was up.

This stopped working a few seasons back and I believe pets can't kill totems anymore.
I don't think totems can be targeted with macros anymore.

Survival: Haste or Mastery

for you Survival hunters out there, are you finding haste or mastery to be a better secondary stat? (assuming you reached your hit cap)

Thanks

I've been going Mastery.

Hit -> Mastery -> Crit, Agi, and Haste all together

Cobra shot = Elemental damage and Surv hunter mastery = +Elemental damage.
There has been a few posts about this already.

Hit until capped. Haste is very valuable until 800-900 not sure on exact value.
Then Agi > crit/mastery > haste

Crit and mastery are very close, if i enter my details into female dwarf crit comes out slightly ahead atm.
Agility is still king, especially for survival. Getting Hit capped shouldn't even be mentioned anymore, if people haven't figured out that hitting is better than missing by now...

As a side note pets are important now even for survival, mine does 25% of my 12-14k dps, and pets benefit from Agility not mastery as survival. I can only imagine what the numbers will be once I get tier gear.
I've heard the ~950 haste value is a good target, but I didn't see the exact reasoning. Is this when our Cobra shots would equal the 1 sec GCD? Is that with the 10% hunting party then, and would it be a higher value for other hunter spec's since they don't have the 10% buff by default?

I am still trying to figure it all out, but I'm starting to wonder about the general rules that Haste is best for SV. I ran my setup through FD.com, first time with no buffs, just me. It showed haste, crit, and mastery all about equal, about .32 or thereabouts. I then loaded wolf pet, loaded kings, DK horn, and stam buff, and both Crit and Mastery went to about .45, and haste was .30.

For me, that shows haste is my worst stat by 33% compared to crit/mastery. I've ran the numbers a few ways, and see some different results almost every attempt. Do we really have a general rule about which is better, or is it 100% you must check it out on simulators? Also, once I get the engineering helm, I should have the ability to insert hit, mastery or haste cogwheels. I'm wondering then how pushing stats one way affects the weight of them? Are they all linear until they cap or soft cap? Or if I forge more stats over to crit, does the value of haste increase?

I hope we can get some more details from Z or maybe Frost on some of the theories about this, or find a really good sticky post about it? I'll head over to EJ soon and see what they say. It's probably about time I head back over and see what they are saying...
Gem for agility, reforge for hit (to cap), then crit.

We still have too many (in my opinion) talents and effects that require critical hits.

After that, haste, to the 900 point mentioned above.

It's not that Mastery is a bad stat for the spec (it's great!), it's just that the others are ahead of it (albeit slightly) in priority. After you reach that haste point, you can work in some mastery. (this is reflected on warcrafthuntersunion.com by Frost, the priority anyway, if not the reasonings.)
The reason we want that much haste is so we can get 4 cobra's between each Explosive shot.

ExS = 6 second cooldown and costs 44 focus.
4 1.5 second cobra shots = 6 seconds and regens 36 focus.
3 1.7 second cobra shots = 5.1 seconds and regens 27 focus.

Haste til ~950 > Crit > Mastery is what I'm aiming for.
i been going by hit - agi - haste - mastery - crit but im gonna need to change some stats for mastery less haste cuz i think im around 1200 for both so haste/mastery are pretty up and up for me and my dps has been fine
im hitting 13k on heroic bosses and baradin hold using agi>haste>crit>mastery .

Once we get back to comfortable crit levels, i'm sure our mastery stacked explosive shots will set off a new wave of qq.

edit: lol who am i kidding we are broken in pvp.
broken in a good way or bad way, i dont pvp much on my hunter but i do on my rogue xD
Hit is always going to be main prioriety for any dps class. But as for hunters Mastery is verrrry important due to the survival mastery inc, which is +nature dmg. Seeings how every attack you use is nature dmg. Inc mastery is basically increased overall dmg, I have never not been 1st in dps in 5 mans or raids. My current iLvL is 346 and i'm pulling consistent 11k-13k dps. Depending on fights obviously. I've reforged pretty much all my gear for mastery besides a few select peices to be hit capped.

-PVP- Is about being 2500 rating and telling others L2P.
-PVE- Is about being top 3 dps and getting the drop you want.
-WoW- Its never about having fun, but about proving your superiority.
i been doing around there if not a little more and my iLvL is 337 hmm

No it's not.

I have terrible (terrrrrrrrrible gear)--50% Wrath epics and 50% questing blues and greens and I can pull 11-12k easily. It's really not that hard.
You are clearly not running heroics in that gear.

I'm also fairly certain he means sustained single target dps, not multishot spamming for 32k dps.
Mastery isn't "as" huge for SV as it is for MM. Sure 1% more damage on most of the shots is good but remember that Auto, Kill, Pet Damage are not affected by it. Theres more of a balance needed between the 3 stats.

Actually I meant single target, but thanks for playing. I could care less about AoE DPS. It's a meaningless statistic.

Web Wrap

Is this right? 3 secs of immobility WITH a 10 second STUN? Or is stun the wrong word being used? I already have a shale spider cause I liked the looks of them, but IF this is true I got a feeling im going to see a TON more of them
They are hunter pets... not raid bosses.
This will make it round out the tenacity tanking options nicely.

Turtle/Beetle for bosses, Bear for heavy physical damage fights, Worm for lots of little adds and Spider for medium sized add groups (for starting the pull with a mini cc). Pity Pummel doesn't really work on the Gorilla because that would have been the perfect addition to the group).

Also pity that they add these just for a tease, there is no real use for these things outside of tanking, yet they don't want to recognize the role either.

3 secs of immobility WITH a 10 second STUN?

I would imagine this falls into that category of things where if you cannot do something about the 3sec channeled spell you probably deserve the stun.
http://ptr.wowhead.com/pet=55#abilities

3 second stun only
Dang. Oh well, it does make a lot more sense.
It also appears that Embrace is now on par (magic resist) with Mark of the Wild.

New Glyph of Concussive Shot

Not that it's going to fix us in PvP, but for anyone who missed it, this redesigned glyph in 4.0.6 will also limit the target's movement speed, similarly to Judgment of Justice. This means druids cannot shapeshift out of it, and it will counter the new Unholy Death Knight snare immunity talent.
Interesting...
A light in the darkness.
Glyph of Concussive show is now a Prime glyph

new glyph: Glyph of Death's Advance (minor): Increases your minimum movespeed to 115%, also makes you immune to maximum movespeed limitations.
Prime Glyphs are only DPS-increasing glyphs so even though you're trying to troll it pretty much couldn't happen.

Besides, I'd actually give up a Prime slot to free up a Major currently, in all honesty...

Sandreaver: The boss model beetle?

I'm a huge fan of the new boss models for the Wasp and Silithid. The Collosus and ...Boss Silithid Wasp... are amazing in both animation and model.

But I'm saddened. The beetle, the last of the insect/silithid pets, doesn't have a corrisponding boss model. So I thought.

Sand reavers, aka Kurinaxx from AQ20, are unused. Why not use them as the boss model beetle's need? Granted, they look nothing like beetles, but they do look like they can take a hit, being armored as they are.

They are just sitting there, rotting away, dying to be used by us. Think about it.
Red beetles. The best beetles.

Haste bug?

I log out and I have 5% haste, but when I enter combat I go up to 6.05% any explanation for that?
Funny that you mention this. I have noticed that my haste % will go up from time to time for whatever reason i can't figure out. Same with my mastery. Makes my OCD kick in hard
Hmmm, I am thinking it is because as you log in you are standing in one place and therefore get your standing still SV haste buff. However when you log out you have been running around and haven't been still enough to get the SV haste buff back yet.
It's either that, or you are changing specs or gear at some point and see a difference.

If neither of these things, then idk, you be bugged or something mon.

Chromag

Since they took the time to take away The Beast's boss tag I'm wondering if chromag is tameable yet. Has anybody been in to check?

For future reference, please utilize the search function. There is a fresh topic already questioning this just a few down from yours.

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/1021054080

No idea if it will carry over to live. But right now in beta he is tamable.
There are a slew of beta hunters who are solely doing pet research on this website:
http://forums.wow-petopia.com/viewforum.php?f=28&sid=40e91d9d24c9a0eecdbf459d0cac6332
You might have much better luck there or on the wow beta forums.
Hey, out of curiosity where is the search function on the new forums? I feel like an idiot but I can't see it
After considering things like helboars are also to have their original npc type changed from demon to beast in Cataclysm, such a change has not been reflected on live servers yet. I figure this goes for Chromaggus as well, which is he is likely still considered a dragonkin.

Hey, out of curiosity where is the search function on the new forums? I feel like an idiot but I can't see it

That big ass search bar at the top of the page will search everything, including the forums.

Awesome thanks man
There is a unique beast in Cataclysm named Drakeodon that uses Chromaggus model and is tameable. So I assume Chromaggus will be as well.

I hate to break it to you...

Feign Death aggro question

Haven't played hunter for a week ...
And today in instances, I found that my Feign Death isn't dropping any aggro at all
I don't remember reading any changes from patch notes...
Is this a bug or is it hotfixed?

Thanks
If you feign then pop up immediately, aggro might not drop.

What were you trying to feign off?
City guards will NOT de-aggro.
Mostly trash mobs in 5 man instances
Sometimes I pull aggro coz I aoe too much so I feign death then continuous my rotations
Never knew that it might not drop if I get out of it immediately thou...
I'll try it again later
Thanks =)
ya it definitely fails if you dont play dead for at least a full second, even with my 60ms.
I wait for my character to hit the ground before I cancel out of it. Too many times I've canceled too soon and it didn't trigger the aggro wipe.

pvp in cata

Greetings my fellow hunters, I have been searching for information on hunter's in PvP, be it tol barad, battle grounds or arena's

what would you suggest be a "good" spec for one getting back into pvp?

im looking for any and all information

A few pet questions

Hey,

I have a few questions that I either can't find the answer to or am still uncertain about (Yes, I know about Petopia, thank you much very =)):

1. Pet stats. Do all pets have the same base stats, do all pet families within a pet class (tenacity, ferocity, cunning) have the same base stats only, or does each individual pet family have different base stats?

For example, does my bear have any more or less untalented base stats than say a turtle? Would a cat, say, do better dps than a wolf for some reason even if they are both ferocious?

2. Sometimes my bear randomly runs off across the world to kill a squirrel... I more or less understand why that happens but what abilities can cause it? Is it just growl or any aoe buff/debuff that the pet can autocast?

3. Do pet 'aura' buffs/roars/whatever stack with similar buffs from other classes? I read that they stack but only for the hunter and not for the whole party...?

4. For soloing MM purposes, am I better off with Roar of Courage, Tear Armor, or Furious Howl? (I assume that for groups it would be whatever buff is missing assuming that they don't stack).

5. Bonus question! =D I read that hunters shouldn't emphasize strength. Is it because strength does nothing for us, only affects melee, or is just not efficient compared to say AP or agility?

Thanks! =)

Haste...

What's the deal with Haste? I've been hearing crit is our most valued stat, yet every time I've changed my reforging and items I do less damage than I did reforging towards haste. I've got my Cobra Shot on a 1.57s cast, and every time I've come across another Hunter reforging for crit I've literally @%%% on their damage. Femaledwarf reflects very little change in DPS from reforging towards haste --> reforging towards crit.
We have 2 haste caps....1 is where we have our cobra shot below 1.67 cast time....generally 1.62-1.65 should cover it if youve got decent latency in game....after this point haste isnt very useful....UNLESS!
Unless you can get to a 1 second cast time...which is some abusrd ammount of haste that you wont be getting near without gimping yourself right now....if even then.
femaledwarf.com as a spreadsheet over values haste in its calculations[thouhg god I love that site and that dward]
Basically...if your cast time is in the first target range....go crit or even mastery[if crit exists on the gear already] if you can get to a full % point[since mastery rounds down]

Hunter Dodge Rating

Has anyone else noticed the following:

Hunters appear to be the only class in the game with a base dodge rating of 0%. That's right, if you strip your character, you will have 0.00% chance to dodge. Most other classes, in contrast, hover around the 3-5% mark. To make matters worse, it takes approximately 2500 points of agility (at level 85) before hunters gain the first 0.01% chance to dodge. Hunter's, therefore, effectively have a negative chance to dodge, and must overcome that penalty with substantial amounts of gear before they even break into positive dodge rating. As the game currently stands, Hunters with thousands of agility will have 15% or less dodge rating that a comparably equipped rogue. Why is that?

This mechanic has existed for years. It does not appear to be a mere tooltip error either, but I will run numbers later to confirm this.

Now, back in Wrath of the Lich King, Blizzard gave hunters a band-aid fix in the form of "Aspect of the Dragonhawk." This aspect effectively combined both Aspect of the Hawk and Aspect of the Monkey, giving most/all hunters a passive boost to dodge. Now that Aspect of the Monkey and Aspect of the Dragonhawk have been removed from the game in Cataclysm, hunters have no way of overcoming the aforementioned dodge penalty. It is simply not fair that Hunters have significantly less passive damage mitigation than other similarly situated classes. Especially, when this appears to be the result of a basic calculation error.

I understand that we do not want hunters, who already stack agility for damage purposes, to be walking around with 50% passive dodge. That's why the ratio of agility -> dodge rating should be kept high (like rogues). On the other hand, its down right stupid that hunters must deal with a high agility -> dodge ratio IN CONJUNCTION with what amounts to a substantial negative base dodge rating.

I would appreciate it if other hunters could confirm this issue and help me provide some hard data. I would also be very grateful if an 85 rogue could add some data (ex. their naked dodge rating).

Signed,
A Very Confused Hunter with 3.5k+ agility and a 1.9% chance to dodge...
Don't forget that even in pvp, even a single item of expertise (my paladin has 2! [bracers and shoulders]) neutralizes any and all benefit.
I have a 1.63% chance to dodge. Isn't it marvelous?
Warriors.
I think I'd be satisfied simply by knowing whether the current dodge calculation is intended or not.
Half-ass game design at work.

BM?

Is BM top hunter spec atm?
Depends on what you want to do. I'd go with the spec you enjoy, but I've heard MM or Surv are far better for raiding.
Didnt you just make this thread a few seconds ago?

Fox not attacking boss...???

My fox was running around in wide circles @ final boss on PoS. It would not attack when I gave the command, and kept running all around the outer perimeter. The behavior continued on Gamon in Org, and I had to dismiss and re-summon to get the little blighter back in line.

I REALLY hope that's fixed, as it made the pet useless for...anything.
noticed the same thing with my fox

Spirit Bond still doesn't work.

That is all
I tested on a dummy, and I thought Spirit Bond worked

1. Does health regen during combat?

2. Take off some gears so that you are not at max health.

3. DPS dummy (putting you in combat)

4. Notice every 10 seconds or so, your health increases.

I have done this. I tested it with both my pet active, and with it dismissed. I never gained the HP from spirit bond, whether it showed in my combat log or not.
Before the big world-changing patch (4.0.3) the scrolling combat text would actually say "gains Ursa's Spirit Bond" then about a second later "Spirit Bond fades". I no longer see the "Spirit Bond fades"; but it isn't working, either.

Before it stopped functioning, there was a bright green number, (of health generated), that would appear over my character's little avatar picture beside the health/focus bar; every ten seconds. That's gone now. There also used to be text in the scrolling combat area that would say "Paciphae gains ___ health from Ursa's Spirit Bond, ___ overhealed"; that's gone too.

I wish someone would at least put it on the list of known issues, so I could take a modicum of comfort, knowing that it would eventually be looked at. Please?
Does this seriously not work? I spent 3 hours (i know not a lot, but for me it is) just trying to find any one of these spirit beasts. I was tired had no time to test.....

If this doesnt work thats just garbage =(

C
no not spirit mend, spirit bond

Spirit Bond gives you 2% of your hp every 10 seconds

Spirit mend is a small instant heal with 5 ticks of about half that heal after over 10 seconds
Ah, there you go - shows how much I know (didnt even look at the abilities got it and logged out) - Just really wanted a darn heal.

Also kinda new to BM - now i know what you're talkin about....god i feel dumb. Just came back from a few months hiatus.

Thank you.

Farts McGee

He got farts. Ya see?
NEEEERRRRDDDD RAAAAAGGGEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Told ya.

best pet??

hi just wondering what the best pet now for solo and dps???
im a BM btw
Spirit Beasts are really good for soloing, same with turtles. Best dps for BM I think is still devilsaur but you could use other pets for buffs
Pet DPS is normalized. The 'best' pet will technically be dictated by whatever buff/debuff your group is lacking and your ability to provide it.

Really, you're safe to just pick one you like and use it.
im hearing alot abt foxes...what benefit can i get from a fox?
http://www.wow-petopia.com/talents/skills.html has a really great breakdown of all pet abilities :) Foxes specifically offer Tailspin: "Your fox twirls its tail around, kicking up an obscuring cloud of dust, causing all enemies within 10 yards to have their melee and ranged attack speed reduced by 20% for 30 sec."
first- foxes= gilnaes/worgen area
second- i like cats and wolves, they both give a great party/raid buff, i know those are kinda original but a cool wolf can be found in hellfire ramparts, and there are a couple of tamable rare/elite/rare elite cats in the barrens, humar the prielord is one - he is a jet black lion, there is also a white/gray one too.
It's all about playing to what the group is missing now. Your group makeup determines which pet is best. Ie.

If you're missing a DK for HoW, a Sham for Strength of Earth, and a Warrior for Bshout, bring a cat or spirit beast for Roar of Courage.

If you're missing a Mage/Shaman for BL/Hero/Time Warp, bring a Core Hound for Ancient Hysteria.

Etc, etc.

Or stick to whatever pet you want. Most of the time you should see most buff slots covered.

Lock and Load Suggestion

Just had a realisation >_>

No one uses arcane shot when this procs right [doesn't dispell anymore] ? So why not remove arcane from the proc so we can weave it through Explosive Shot ticks?

Oh and QQQQQQQ Hunter PVP QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ.
If you need to lose focus during LnL, use Kill Command.
This was suggested I don't know how many times in the hunter thread of the beta forums. I would really like to know why they still haven't made the change. Feels awkward having to use Cobra Shot between Explosive Shots while at 100 focus just because using Arcane Shot means wasting a charge.

Would also be nice if they could do something about having to wait between Explosive Shots not to override the previous one, though I guess removing Arcane Shot alleviate that.

Pet Lost Levels

I had 3 or 4 pets up to level 85 same as me, now today I log in and there level 82 again
what the heck???
How long has it been since you logged in on your hunter? Maybe something happened during the hotfix yesterday.

I have bad dps need help

I don't raid but have begun doing some Heroics and am new to being a Hunter, I believe I have decent gear... but I still do fairly low DPS.

My rotation is usually by priority:
- Rapid Fire
- Serpent Sting
- Black Arrow
- Explosive Shot
- Cobra Shot/Steady Shot (depending how low my serpent sting is to refresh)

Any ideas or tips on what I am doing wrong? Cheers.
Awesome guild name.

Go read.
what he said ^

also reforge your mastery to haste and hit(for raid bosses if your raiding)

mastery isnt a great stat for survive atm.

Spirit bond bug?

ok so i made a human hunter yesterday and i notice about level 24 that spirit bond despite being talented still will not show up and is not ticking even if i resommun my pet or switch pets. this happening to anyone else?
I've been noticing there are a lot of inconsistencies with Spirit Bond based on my own experiences and whats being said on these boards. It's been a problem for a few patches now.
Reports of the buff range from not showing up at all, not showing up on some types of pets, not getting the health regen even when it does show up, all the way to some people saying it works fine for them.

It must be one of those things that the dev team simply has a hard time fixing.

With hat in hand, please guys, help me.

This guy on Ceherah's DPS Analysizer should be throwing 12K DPS with raid buffs, I am lucky to get 5 in a 5 man and 6 in a 10 man.

He has good gear and such, How in the heck can I be so wrong? I am about at my wits end.

Rotation is SS, BA, ES, x2 SteadyS, arcane if space for it and around again and again yep I use Kill command.

Please, at this point I will try anything.

Seeing as you're SV, do this:

SS, BA, ExS, Steady til ExS comes off CD, repeat.

Ignore Kill Command, ignore Arcane Shot. You're focus starving yourself. There will be times right now you need to put up SS and BA right after another with just enough focus left to ExS. When you do this, you might be a second or two off from ExS CD, so recast is ASAP.
Oh, and never take Zeherah's DPS Analyzer for face value. That's assuming the most optimal conditions.
I certinaly agree with not takeing anything for granted. But I seem to run a coupl thousands below my senior guild mates. So frusting, I try so hard.

However, I am 72 years old and starting to think it must be old age unless I am just missing sometintng important.

Thanks

Much respect for being 72 and wearing a hat.

Also, you won't get the DPS listed in a 5 man (or likely a 10 man either) because you won't have all the buffs and target debuffs that are in the spreadsheet.

Maybe with the spreadsheet, try only tick the buffs you actually would have in a 5 man and then try it out :)
No buffs no nothing 9200. Sure wish I could get 9200 with full 25 man raid buffs in ICC, LOL.
use femaledwarf, it is quite accurate. In full 264 gears can pull 13-14k easy single target like ICC fester. Still not as astronomical as mages but still its there.
I am a survival hunter now too, and been running heaps of heroics lately to get glory of the hero and was grinding for my trike. If I tried in a heroic I can break 8 or 9k, for example, the Ick fight in PoS i was at about 9.8k. Typically, I'll break 7k in a boss heroic without really doing too much.

The rotation I use is SS, BA, ES. With LnL procs I'll use ES, SS then ES then SS and then ES again. However, depending on fight and boss HP I might do ES > Arc S then go in dbl kill shots. If I wanna blow my CDs, Ill use Rapid fire at the start then go into my rotation but I have extra steadies between ES cooldowns and then burn off focus with 1-2 arcane shots. I think it will just take practice and getting the hang out of it.

In my gear, for Fester, I hit about 11.8k, which is probably a bit low, but I attributed it to the fact that I got hit by vile gas twice.
If you noted Chaser has a 6005 gear score. But I just suck I guess.

No excuse sir. Against Festergut I will get in the 8K range. Sigh. What ever you get in ICC I get about 2K less.

Oh did a 61K DPS clearing in ICC last week. Guess that will up my average, LOL.
He has good gear and such, How in the heck can I be so wrong? I am about at my wits end.

Please, at this point I will try anything.

I feel your pain. You are not alone.
1. What pet are you using?
2. What food buff?
3. What flask?

Also, don't get hung up on DPS...and gear scores. I don't have nearly the GS you do....but I have pulled over 8k as a SV hunter on 5 man bosses. I am STILL using the DMK Greatness trinket...simply becasue I haven't found any with a higher GS that can beat it (that have dropped for me). The 90 agil on it equal 180 AP. When it procs (which is often), that is an additional 600 AP. I have a 232 trinket...but it simply doesn't compare to the 200 one.

Also, I have more haste than you do, and I converted all my excess hit into Mastery...which seems to help SV. I also converted some of my crit. And once I get Cobra shots...i expect my dps to start climbing.

As SV...pets I use are cat....wolf...and on a rare occasion...a tanking pet like a turtle (as a temp backup tank). Cat helps my DPS the most.
Chaser, lemme suggest something:
Spec MM, get the MM spec from rendron, on the same realm as me.

Get you haste up to around 800. Through reforging your crit into haste. Ther rest of the unreforged crit goes into mastery.

Rotation:
Serpent Sting -> Arcanex2 -> Steadyx3 -> Chimera
-> Steadyx2 -> Arcanex2 or 3 -> Steadyx3 ->Chimaera

etc.etc.

Oh and if you get a frost dk into the raid for the 10% haste buff, you'll get lots of improvement.
Where's your hat?

Do you keybind? That one change in gameplay - going from clicker to keybind - improved my dps.
But I'm MM and not Surv.
Lots of food for thought here. Appreciate the help.

Honest, I will try to do better.

Trinket Activation

How do you activate your trinkets while in combat; I assume there is a keybind or a macro for this, but haven't found the info. Thanks.
I new I had seen that the character screen had numbers assigned, but couldn't find where I had seen that. Thanks much.

I haven't played hunter in awhile, but...

Is it just me being out of practice, or are hunters generating a lot more threat than the pets, these days? Used to be BM would mean pet generated slightly more threat than I could out, now I seem to aggro easily.
ya with pets tanking if its not a tank type pet gotta watch ur threat agianst ur pet.
Haven't had any real issues with it in BM tbh... Send pet, kill command, pet aggro is now 60k... fire away and mob is dead before you stand a chance of pulling.

If were talking about dungeons.... id hope we're pulling more threat than our pets... Don't want my crab pet doing LFD without me. ;) Little bastard would probably get instaqueue too cuz hes a tank...

New 248 (8% Hit Rating) in affect now?

I keep getting mixed messages on this subject; Some say it is affective now and some say not until Cat's release.

I don't want to re-gem and drop my hit rate to 248 in order to gain some agi or haste unless/until it is in affect.

Anyone know for sure on this?

Thanks!
Yes, it is my understanding the new hit rating is in effect.

However, technically, the actual hit cap is 246.xx (don't know the exact number). So shoot for 247 hit rating.

You can also look at the new character frame and mouse over your hit rating to see where your hit % stand against 80, 81, 82, and 83 level mobs. If they are all 0% then you are over hit cap (it doesn't tell you how far over hit cap you are). If it's greater than 0% then thats the chance that you will miss that particular level mob meaning you are under hit cap.
Thanks!
246 is 7.9999% or something like that. You still have a chance to miss but you also have the same chance at winning the lottery.
With 246, Imp Srpt Sting misses 2.5-3.2% of the time on HLK fight. No other shot misses.

(edit-- in my case, as per logs over the last 3 weeks.)
Ah. so the 246 has no bearing on it, for now?

Then, at 246 hit rating, no shot has missed on HLK--in my case, as per logs over 3 weeks. =D
Don't be afraid of having a little extra hit laying around. If you're like me, something like 250 hit is fine. You may belittle over, but there's no point in reforging down to that perfect 246 sometimes.

Hit Rating

Since Cata, what is the hit rating now for Survival hunter?

defend pet attacks targets with wyevern sting

is this normal? i don't want the pet to break it, is only option passive pet?
it won't attack it, pet will only stand behind the target doing nothing and just being ready to attack once the sting breaks
hi will check it again however pretty certain i shoot using wyvern and pet on defensive runs up and whacks it atm
Yeah I'm pretty sure my pet was breaking Wyvern Sting last night as well.
Your Pet wont break Wyvern or Ice Trap. It will just patiently wait until the CC is over or you start attacking something else at which point it will jump on that target. Possible you shot twice and broke your own Wyvern?

Pets getting stuck in arena

On the ring of valor arena map the pet gets stuck on the elevator. This happens to my partner, and is really frustrating.
Usually if you have your pet cast a growl, he gets unstuck instantly.
Works most of the time.
my friend says it doesnt work since cata came out

move off the platform and then summon the pet. itll be good.
If you wait to summon till you are off the platform it prevents pet from getting stuck. Also, if your pet gets stuck on platform or pillars rising mid combat, press the pet follow button to recall pet and he will run to you seeming removing any pathing issues.

Goblin Pets Too Small?

I've played hunters in the past and decided to try a new Goblin Hunter when Cata came out. It's been a while so I do not remember if pets get bigger as they level. One thing for sure, pets look very tiny for Goblin Hunters (so far). I just tamed Echeyakee and he looks tiny. The monkey I grabbed from the starting island before leaving is so small it's hard to keep up with him in a fight. Is this something I should be concerned with? I mean, if pets are always going to be small I might reconsider using the Goblin as a hunter.
Thanks Raygun. I figured they scale with level but I wasn't sure.
THANK YOU!i made a new worgen hunter(WORGENS ROCK)and the dog for him is zokish size but .........
*OKish*

Can I still Ctrl+1 my pet into attacking?

One of my favorite things about playing a hunter, was how easy it was to spur my pet into the fray. A quick Control 1 press, and then a tap of 1 to get my auto shot rolling made life so simple.

Then I decided to leave for a few months. Just needed a break.

When I came back I was horrified to find that I could no longer use the Ctrl+1 hotkey, or any combination of control+#. Is there any way to re-configure this to work? If not in WoW, is there a addon someone can direct me to?
Make a macro

/petattack

go into keybinds, bind it to ctrl 1
Believe there is a way you can bind it back in the Key Bindings menu. It used to be special action bar 1, but now that they put that silly aspect bar there the name may have changed.
Thanks for the advice.

Hunter PVP Suggestion!!

Hi there, i'm not expert of PVE hunter in cata and I don't want to be a pve hero. What i'm trying to do is bringing my own idea based on the feedback i've read on various PVP forums.

This is my alt and i've been doing arena till season 1 with various toon. Take note my main language is french so please don't overlook my grammar.

Ill try to make this short and to the point.

Focus has it is is a fine system. Although I still find myself being slowed in the pace of the game because of it. In my opinion it still need a little bit of tweaking.

So what I would like to bring is that with auto shot on the move, why not make each auto shot regen 1 focus too? that mean about a focus regen bonus of 1 by 2-3 Sec.
It would be scalable with gear, and cooldown.

Also make fervor trainable. We need to have more control over our focus. Hunter is in dire need of controlled burst.

The problem atm with hunter is their dps is great but on dummies, they are build around PVE.
In pvp, reality come that you will be slowed, people will be in your deadzone, you will be CC'ed. So if your trained casting cobra can be tedious and thereforce your dps is shot down completly, while every other non mana user respond very well with their resource system while being focus.

I love the idea of moving around, while casting cobra, but if you want to keep it that way, I think you need to lower the base casting time of this ability. Making it a 1.5 or 1 sec base cast would be perfect. That would improve our focus regen and DPS, two thing that we clearly lack in PVP. While not dumbing the feeling of the class.

Trap: Please!!! Make them more reliable. Getting resisted on them with such a big cooldown is gamebreaking. Marks and beast will be more viable next patch, so gemming spell pen just for trapping is a bad system.

Self-healing: This is atm way OUT OF CONTROL. I have a lvl85 Warlock and lvl 85 DK. Both most OP class with self-healing. it is OP with both class. Being able to eat my ghoul for 50K then when im low again pop lichborn and fully heal myself in 4-5 deathcoil is kinda op. Warlock self-healing has never been stronger.

The point is every dps in this game got a way to heal themself to full in a few secs. While hunter is stuck with nothing. 5% 10 sec cooldown (9) glyphped isn't what I call self-healing compared to every other classe can get. We need a good self healing that isn't op
My suggestion would be with fervor being trainable simply give it a self healing like 30% of your total hp over 10 sec something not OP but that would help.

Thanks for reading.

Spirit Bond idea

While ranting in another thread about hunter's lack of self heal, I came upon a little idea that may or may not have been discussed here.

Do you guys think it would be feasible to make Spirit Bond and active skill that restores x amount of health over t seconds, and give it a 2-3 minute cooldown?

So rather than the passive 2% per 10, it would be (going in line with warriors and rogues here) like 40%-50% over certain period?

What do you think?

Try and keep the sarcasm to a minimum, please.
I don't care for the base 2% healing Spirit Bond does either, but I think it'd actually be more accurate were it something like...

Spirit Bond heals you for 2% of the damage your pet deals with a Basic Attack and you heal your pet for 2% of the damage you deal with your Auto Shot/Cobra Shot/Steady Shot/whatever shot.

Of course, it'd also be nice to keep the 10% extra healing with that... As it stands, Spirit Bond just doesn't seem to quite feel like what it says it is, but meh maybe that's just me.
I know! Let's make it an on-use 15 second long, 2 minute CD that heals the hunter for x health every time our pet attacks!

It'll blow your mind!

I seriously miss that in PVP. Also, Brokentooth.

Survival Tree Question

Noob here. Why is the second tier of Survival all trap-related talents when you don't even have any traps at level 19 (when you'd be starting to put points into tier 2)?
Idk but you start getting them at 20 dont you

Actually, not till 22 (Immolation trap). So you've already spent two talent points that do nothing for 3 levels. :p

This is obviously not a big issue as it's not like leveling is anything even remotely in the realm of difficult, but it seems like a strange design decision to me is all.
I agree.

Anyone who decides to spend one of their precious talent points, especially for low level players, they would expect to benefit from it immediately, now.

Marksman's Trueshot Aura has a similar problem if I'm not mistaken.
One can buy the talent by level 38 or 39, but it is somehow flagged as a level 40 talent ability and thus not active until one reaches 40.

I personally think that is just plain silly and makes utterly no sense at all.

Do other classes have the same kind of mind-boggling ability set arrangements?
Or is it just Hunters?
Again.
Yeah, looks like the lvl 19 twink braket can't go SV. Bummer.

Leveling anything else and I do not know how noticable it would be for those few levels
while i don't know for sure, i think most people don't use SV as a lvling spec so that's a possibility.
Surv gets the most zowie right off the bat at 10. Disengage is 14, you could do a build with all 3 tier 1 talents and 2 pts in the one that lowers disengage's CD. For PVE its a little lame to make a normal build til your spells catch up to the talents but you don't really notice since you are too busy killing mobs before your pet gets to them.

That was pre 4.0
We wish we could tell you. Blizzard hasn't looked at the survival tree at all throughout the entire freaking beta.

ES hits like a truck at low levels. Before anything reaches you it will be long dead.
